Another gallery has been added. Marseille! Founded in 600 b.c. by the Greek sailors of Phocaea, this great city is the oldest in France and surely the most complex and right now it's history counts more than 2600 years. Thought the oldest building is 500 years old the city is really pretty and has a soul of its own. In France it is the biggest port of the country. For some people it is known because of Dumas "The Count of Monte Cristo" as only 3km off the shore the stands legendary island Château d'If. One can take a tourist boat to visit the island or to visit spectacular turquoise bays and the impressive cost close to Marseille. When in boat tourists exit the Marseille bay the search for the big sardine which should block the bay entrance. Back in time a brave captain sank his ship here in order to stop the invasion from the sea. And the name of the ship was "The Sardine". After a long day one can relax in numerous bars and restaurants and taste sea-cuisine chefs-d'oeuvres like the famous "bouillabaisse de Marseille". By the way, the real one should cost more than 70 euros for the bowl! Here one can taste "Pastis de Marseille", an anise cocktail. It tasted something for me and I had to add some jus. Marseille is also famous for its soap and I am still using it. He were shot some cult films like Taxi and Taxi-2 and here was "shot" Jean Reno in the film "Immortal". Walking in the downtown it seems that the city is on the frontier with Morocco - there are same arab quarters with bazaars, brouhaha and particular arab atmosphere. Some locals say that they themselves notice that recently arabs become more present in Marseille than french people. At night, walking near the docks in the old port, one can feel the presence of majestic vessels that arrive from all over the world. If you want to see the beauty of the city you just have to climd up to the Notre Dame de la Garde. From here you will have a spectacular view of the "French sea capital". In general Marseille is a big boiling pot of lives and cultures which is ready to accept a lot of tourist spices!
